How can we tell if the home we are looking at is in Orange County or Durham County?

Meadowmont is unique in that the neighborhood is in two different districts. The Meadowmont map below shows a line between Orange and Durham counties. If the home is in Orange County, any school-age children will attend the Chapel Hill-Carrboro Schools. If the home is in Durham County, any school-age children will attend the Durham Public schools.

If I live outside of Chapel Hill and am building a house in Meadowmont, can my child attend the assigned Meadowmont schools?

School policy states that if a resident has an Offer to Purchase contract on a residence being built in the assigned school district (either Chapel Hill-Carrboro schools or the Durham Public schools), they can register their child with the assigned school system with that contract. The contract must reflect the closing date and the address of the property. Construction must have started on the property, as the school system does not accept just the property closing statement. The family must plan to move into the home in Meadowmont before March 1 of that school year.

The parents of the child are required to pay tuition for that time up until they move into the new residence. For verification and further details, please contact the Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools Registrar's office at 919 967-8211 ext. 268 or the Durham Public Schools at 919 560-2059.
